The history of the Government College Women University Sialkot goes back to 1951 when it was established as Govt. College for Women to educate female students at the Intermediate level. The FSc classes were initiated in 1952, and BSc classes commenced in 1960. It was in 1960 that this institution was affiliated with the University of the Punjab for the undergraduate program. The College was upgraded to a Post Graduate College in 1989 when it started offering MA Classes in English, Urdu, and Islamiyat.
