U.M.E. Candidates
For admission into the first degree programme in Agriculture, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry to form the core subjects, with credit in any of the following: Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Direct Entry Candidates
In addition to the specified qualification for UME Entry Mode (100Level), candidates seeking admission through the Direct Entry Mode (200- Level) must posses one of the following qualifications:
General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L) or its equivalent passes in Chemistry and in at least one science or social/ management science subject from the following: Biology, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics (Pure and Applied), Agricultural Science, Physics, Geology, Economics and Geography.
National Diploma (OND or ND) obtained in relevant fields of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Wildlife, Cooperative and Agribusiness Management, or Veterinary Science with a minimum of upper credit.
National Certificate of Education (NCE) passed with a minimum of Credit grade (60- 69%) obtained from a College of Education recognised by the University and with relevant subject combinations from among: Agricultural science, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Home Economics.
(ii) 300- Level:
Higher National Diploma (HND) obtained with a minimum of Upper Credit in relevant fields as listed for OND/ND holders and from NBTE accredited institutions recognised by the University.

Entry requirements:
(a) Joint Matriculation Examination Entry Requirements:
In addition to an acceptable pass in JME, candidates must have WASC/GCE O' Level Credit passes in at least five subjects including English language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Agricultural sciences, OR Senior Secondary School Certificate with credit in Engfish Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and/or Agricultural Sciences. Credit pass in Economics and Geography can also be used.
(b) Direct Entry Requirements:
Candidates for direct admission must have met the matriculation requirements in the relevant subjects plus two SSC/GCE Adanced Level passes in Chemistry and either Biology orAgricultural sciences.
Candidates who have obtained OND in Agricuhure with a minimum of upper credit, HND in Agriculture with an overall pass or NCE in Agricultural Science with at least an overall Credit pass may be eligible for direct admission provided they meet the JME requirements.
Candidates who, have obtained Diploma certificate in Agriculture, in any of the Natural Sciences, Banking and Finance and Business Management with at least a merit pass may be eligible for Direct entry to 200L, provided they meet the UME requirements.
Candidates with OND and Diploma certificates in relevant areas but with a pass grade may be admitted direct into 100 Level.
HND with upper credit plus 5 credits at WASC/NECO/SCE O' level may be admitted into 300L.

Direct Entry:
Passes at the Advanced Level in GCE, IJMB or an approved equivalent examination in two or three of Chemistry and Biology or Chemistry and Botany/Zoology. In addition, candidates must also meet the 5 credit passes in WASCE/NECO/GCE requirements as in UTME.
Holders of the following qualifications from institutions recognized by the University of Jos may also be considered for admission into 200 level: National Diploma (ND) in Agriculture, Forestry, Animal Health/Production and other relevant qualifications with at least an upper credit. Candidates must also meet the O’level requirements for UTME
Credit passes in five (5) WASCE/NECO/GCE (O’level) subjects and its equivalent as approved by the University Senate, including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and Physics. The credit pass in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least a pass in Biology. In addition, candidates must have UTME JAMB scores high enough for the cut-off point set for the year in which the applications are being .

(b) Direct Entry
(i) Applicants should possess, in addition to the requirements in “a” above, the National Diploma with a minimum of upper credit or equivalent or Higher National Diploma with a minimum of lower credit or equivalent.
(ii) GCE (Advanced Level) or equivalent in at least two of the following subjects passed at a sitting: Biology, Chemistry, Economics and Mathematics. Holders of any of these certificates from recognized institutions may be considered foradmission into 200 level, provided they meet the minimum entry requirements and have passed relevant subjects at appropriate level.
