Institutions Offering Master of Science in Chemistry

•  Bowen University, Iwo  
  Course entry requirements:
  (i) All candidates are required to possess a Bachelor’s degree obtained from a University approved by Senate and with a grade not less than Second Class Lower Division.
  (ii) A candidate with less than Second Class Lower Division plus a Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit in a relevant field from a recognized University.
  (iii) In addition to (i) and (ii) above, candidates must satisfy the Ordinary Level requirement of five (5 subjects which must include English Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) subject as may be specified for the programme of choice.
  
  Candidates in regular employment or employed at Bowen must indicate such and must submit with their applications, formal letter of release to Postgraduate College.
  
  Applicants who are not graduates of Bowen University must request their former Universities or institutions to forward directly to the College Administrator, College of Postgraduate Studies, Bowen University their academic transcripts as applicable.
•  Crescent University, Abeokuta  
  Admission requirements:
  1.Candidates with Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry from Crescent University and approved universities must obtain a minimum of second class lower division with a CGPA of 3.0/5.0 for an academic programme.
  2.The students from other streams holding bachelor’s degree with a minimum of a second class lower in related courses such as Geology, Environmental Management and Toxicology and Biochemistry may also apply provided such candidates took relevant courses in chemistry and passed them at the undergraduate level.
  3.Candidates with at least a third class degree or HND and university PGD with CGPA of 3.0/.5.0 may be considered for admission into academic Master’s degree programmes.
  Candidates may be required to undergo a selection process. That is, candidates without background in chemistry may be required to take some courses at the lower level

  (i). Candidates who possess a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant areas from OAUSTECH or other recognized universities with a minimum of Second Class Honours.
  (ii). Candidates with Third Class Honours Degree or HND (in relevant areas) with appropriate Postgraduate Diploma from any other recognized institutions with minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale (or at least Upper Credit in the Postgraduate Diploma). In addition, the holders of HND, PGD/PGDE certificates should satisfy the basic School Certificate or GCE Ordinary Level entry requirements.

  Specialization options: Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Petroleum Geochemistry and Processing, Environmental Chemistry and Pollution Control, Material Chemistry.
  
  Course entry requirements:
  (a) SSC or its equivalent with credit passes in at least 5 subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and any other relevant subject at not more than two sittings.
  (b) B.Sc Degree in Chemistry with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division.
  (c) Candidates who possess B.Sc. with a minimum of Third Class or HND at Upper Credit Level and PGD in Chemistry with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale or Merit may be considered for admission.
•  Redeemer's University, Ede  
  Admission requirements:
  i) All candidates must have five credits passes including English, Mathematics, Physics,
  
  (ii) Candidates must have a Bachelors degree in relevant discipline and from the Redeemer’s
  
  (ii) Candidate from other universities may be required to offer lower level courses relevant to
  
  (iii) All candidates must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity, good communication skill, Chemistry and Biology; University or from any other university approved by the senate with a minimum of second class lower division; their area of specialization. Maturity, ability to make effective independent decisions and problem solving potentials.
  
  
•  Lagos State University, Lagos  
  Course entry requirements:
  a. The course shall be open for admission to Honours Chemistry graduates from Lagos State University and other Universities/Institutions recognized by the Senate, who have obtained not less than a Second Class lower division.
  b. A Master Degree programme in Chemistry shall last for a minimum of 4 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters and each student shall renew his/her registration at the beginning of each session.
  c. The programme shall run on a full time basis and the candidates may be required to satisfy the Department in a selection process.
•  Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu Ode  
  Course entry requirements:
  a) Graduates of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun or other Universities recognized by the University Senate who have obtained the approved Bachelor’s Degree with at least Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in the field of study.
  
  b) Candidates with Third Class Bachelor’s Degrees and Postgraduate Diploma in the same subject.
  
  c) Candidates with HND (Minimum of Lower CREDIT) and Postgraduate Diploma in the course applied for.
  
  Course duration:
  (i) Full time- 18 Months
  (ii) Part time-36 Months
•  Kwara State University, Malete  
  Course entry requirements:
  -Graduates of Kwara State University or other recognised universities who have obtained the approved degree of Bachelor with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division.
  -Candidates with Second Class Lower Division may, however, be considered for admission. Such candidates may be subjected to qualifying examination.
  In addition to above, a candidate must satisfy the university’s requirements for matriculation.
