Course entry requirements:
(A) Admission Requirements for the Four-Year Degree Full-Time Programme (Syllabus A – UME) Candidates seeking admission into the Four-Year Degree Programme should possess any of the following qualifications: At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASCE, SSCE/GCE, NECO-SSCE or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade (TC II) examinations or its recognized equivalent not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English language and Fine Arts.

Use of English,
Fine Arts and,
Any other two subjects from the Arts,or Social Sciences.
(B) Admission Requirements for the Four-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (Syllabus B – UME) Candidates seeking admission into the Four-Year (Syllabus “B”) Degree Programme should possess any of the following qualifications: At least five Ordinary Level Credit passes in WASCE, SSCE/GCE. NECO-SSCE or at least five merit level passes in the Teachers Grade 11 (TC II) examinations or its recognized equivalent at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include English language,

Any other three (3) subjects from the Arts, Social Sciences, or Sciences
(C) Admission Requirements for the Three-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)
In addition to (A) above, candidates who possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission;
(i) At least two Advanced Level passes in Fine Arts and any other Subject in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Higher School Certificate (HSC).
(ii) At least an Upper credit level pass in the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or a Lower credit level pass in Higher National Diploma (HND) in Fine Arts from a recognized Polytechnic or College of Technology or at least a credit level pass in the University of Benin Diploma in Fine Arts (DFA).
(iii) At least a credit-level pass in Fine Arts and an overall merit level pass at the NCE or its equivalent qualification from a recognized College of Education.
(iv) Holders of OND, HND, Bachelor and Postgraduate Degrees from recognized institutions within and outside Nigeria without a qualification in Fine Arts and who have met the matriculation requirements of the Faculties of Arts and Environmental Sciences shall be qualified for admission into the 200 Level in the Undergraduate Programme of the Department. Successful candidates will be required to take remedial courses at the 100 Level (Syllabus A& B courses).
(D)Admission Requirements for the Two-Year Full-Time Degree Programme (Direct Entry)
(i) Candidates who possess at least an upper credit level pass in HND, who satisfy (A) above are eligible for consideration for Direct Entry admission into the 300 Level of the Two-Year Degree Programme. In addition to A above:
(ii) Candidates with Bachelor Degree in Fine/Applied Arts with an Honours degree in Fine/Applied Arts from recognized institutions within and outside Nigeria. This category of candidates will be admitted into 300 Level. The candidates will be required to take the 200 Level introductory courses in the new area of specialization.
