  Wait-listing: Students who come to Wits immediately after Matric may apply for the four-year LLB. Applicants with an APS of 40-42, as well as English 6 AND Mathematics 5 OR Maths Literacy 6, will be wait-listed, subject to place availability.
  
  
  2. Three-year stream (LFA13)
  -No matric APS calculation.
  -Subject to assessment criteria as determined by the School of Law and place availability. Applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree at an institution other than Wits are required to apply for the three-year LLB programme (select year of study 2).
  
  Wits applicants who have completed an undergraduate degree without Law modules are also required to apply for the three-year LLB. Applicants must have obtained an average of at least 60% in an undergraduate degree (slelect year of study 2).
  
  
  3. Two-year stream (LFA12)
  -No matric APS calculation.

  Minimum entry requirement:
  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Degree admission with a minimum of 50% in English as a Home Language (HL)1 or First Additional Language (FAL)2 coupled with a minimum of 50% for three (3) DESIGNATED NSC subjects (this excludes Life Orientation which is a 10 credit subject; OR
  • A National Certificate (Vocational) (NC(V)) with Degree admission – a minimum of 60% in English on either First Additional Language or Home Language level AND Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy AND Life Orientation, with a minimum of 70% in the four (4) vocational subjects is required; OR
  • A Senior Certificate (SC) (with endorsement) or equivalent with a minimum of 50% in English as a Home Language (HL) or First Additional Language (FAL); OR
  • Alternatively, a Higher Certificate, an Advanced Certificate, or a 240 or 360 credit Diploma in a cognate field may also satisfy the minimum admission requirements to degree studies.

  Admission requirements:
  • An average of at least 70% (excluding Life Orientation) in the National Senior Certificate or Independent Examinations Board school-leaving certificate.
  • Afrikaans (Home Language) at least a 5 (60%–69%); or English (Home Language) at least a 5 (60%–69%); or Afrikaans (First Additional Language) at least a 6 (70%–79%); or English (First Additional Language) at least a 6 (70%–79%).
  
  The three-year LLB programme (Second degree)
  Admission requirements:
  • Normally a degree from a South African university in which an average of 60% was obtained in the final year of the degree.
  
  The two-year LLB programme (Second degree)
  Admission requirements
  • A prior BA (Law) or BCom (Law) degree from Stellenbosch University.
