Course entry requirements:
a. Direct entry

SSSCE/WASSCE HOLDERS Passes in three core subjects (English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies) plus credit passes in three (3) relevant elective subjects.

For SSSCE Candidates: Passes (A—D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English and Mathematics, and three (3) relevant elective subjects.

For WASSCE Candidates: Passes (A1—D7) in three (3) core subjects, including English and Mathematics, and Credit passes (A1-C6) in three (3) relevant elective subjects.

The aggregate of the six subjects (i.e. three (3) core and three (3) electives) should not exceed aggregate thirty-nine (39) for WASSCE and aggregate 24 for SSSCE.

Candidates with a combination of the two grading systems will be treated on a case-by-case basis.

RSA Stage III/ ABCE Holders: Passes in two (2) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be a Grade D or better). Also the applicant must have had credit passes in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the GBCE (old programme).

GBCE HOLDERS (New programme): Applicants must have passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies ) plus passes (A-D) in three (3) relevant elective subjects. The aggregate of the six subjects should not be more than twenty-four (24).

DBS Holders: DBS Holders’ applicants must hold at least five (5) DBS passes for Secretarial Option, or four (4) DBS passes for Accounting Option. Applicants must also hold four (4) WASSCE passes (A1-D7) or four (4) SSSCE passes (A-D) including English Language and Mathematics.

b. Mature entry

i. Applicants must be at least 25 years old and have three (3) years professional practice in the relevant study area.

ii. Applicants must pass an Entrance Examinations to be conducted by the Polytechnic in English Language and Mathematics. iii. In lieu of such examinations, the applicants should have credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in WASSCE or any other nationally recognised standard High School level examinations.

NOTE: In all cases, applicants must also satisfy departmental requirements. Applicants shall be required to submit their results for verification with the relevant examination body.

(a) ‘A’ Level, R.S.A. and DBS Holders:

(i) Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics.

OR

(ii) Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English Language and Mathematics.

(iii) Ghana Commercial Examination Stage (RSA) II passes with five (5) credit passes including English Language and Mathematics.

AND EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING:
Two passes at:

Diploma in Business Studies (DBS)
(b) SSSCE Holders:

Six (6) passes in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics

(c) WASSCE Holders:

Six (6) passes in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

(d) General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE) Holders

General Business Certificate with five (5) credit passes including English Language and

Mathematics.

(e) Teacher Applicants:
-Four-year Certificate ‘A’. OR
-Three-year Post Secondary Teacher’s Certificate. AND
-Five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level credits including English Language and Mathematics. OR
-Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes including English Language and Mathematics.

(f) Diploma in Procurement and Materials Management

i. Diploma in Procurement and Materials Management graduates with a minimum of Second (2nd) Class Lower Division will be admitted into HND 2nd year.

ii. Diploma in Procurement and Materials Management graduates with a Pass will be admitted into the first year of HND.

(g) Mature Applicants:

i. Must be 25 years old and should provide a Birth Certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth;
ii. Must have a minimum of two (2) years working experience; and
iii. Pass a written examination and an interview.

Course entry requirements:
(a) General Entry Requirements for HND Programmes (Direct Entry)
(i) SSSCE Applicants: passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated science; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialisation.
(ii) WASSCE Candidates: passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated science; and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialisation.
(iii) GBCE/ABCE/A’LEVEL/O’LEVEL Candidates: Six (6) GBCE/GCE’O’ – Level Credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) Plus at three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialisation
(iv) DBS/RSA III /Senior Stenographer Applicants: DBS, RSA III certificate plus four WASSCE passes (A1-D7) or four SSSCE, RSA II passes (A-D) including English Language and Mathematics.
(v) Applicants from Technical Schools (Certificate II Applicants): applicants must have passes in three (3) subjects including English language and mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.
(vi) Teacher’s Certificate: Applicant must have Three-year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four-year Certificate “A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE ‘O’-Level SSSCE/WASSCE Passes in relevant elective subjects.

(b) Entry Requirements for Mature HND Applicants:
-Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which is five (5) years old at the time of application.

(i) Must pass a written examination and an interview to be conducted by the University.
(ii) Must provide evidence of at least two (2) years’ work experience.
Ho Technical University, Ho
Course entry requirements:
I. SSSCE HOLDERS
a. Five (5) passes (A-C) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and at least two (2) of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialization.
Or
b. Six passes (A-D) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics; and at least three (3) of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialization.

II.WASSCE HOLDERS

a. Five (5) passes (A1-C6) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics; and at least two (2) of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialization

V. TECHNICIAN PART II/III HOLDERS
Certificate holders with four SSSCE/WASSCE credit including English Language and Mathematics.

VI.TECHNICAL SCHOOL (CERTIFICATE II) HOLDERS
Passes in English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science plus any three (3) relevant trade courses.

VII. MATURE CANDIDATES
a. Must be at least 25 years old by the time of application.
b. Must pass a written aptitude test (English, Mathematics and General paper in relevant area)
