    Electives and program structure:
    Year 1:
    Your first year concentrates on gaining a strong grounding in mechanical engineering, focusing on the automotive industry. You’ll also be introduced to management.

    All engineering students will also study an Introduction to Engineering course, incorporating a humanitarian-focused Engineers Without Borders Challenge. You’ll have the opportunity to extend this aspect of your studies by completing an Engineers Without Borders elective, enabling you to experience humanitarian engineering first-hand.

    Year 2:
    While continuing your studies in maths, mechatronics, mechanics and dynamics and digital fundamentals you’ll also undertake a Project Based Learning (PBL) course which concentrates on the study of machine elements and their incorporation into simple machines.

    Year 3:
    You’ll focus on business studies including studies in management, marketing, economics and commercial law.

    Year 4:
    You’ll deepen your knowledge in automotive and mechanical engineering by looking at areas such as vehicle design, vibrations, thermo-fluid mechanics and power systems.

    Year 5:
    Your final-year (capstone) project will develop and reinforce the skills and knowledge you need - as defined by Engineers Australia - to commence your professional engineering career. You may have the opportunity to present your project at EnGenius, an end of year student showcase event.

    Electives will allow you to develop specialist skills and enhance your learning in chosen areas of interest.

    You’ll also complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 4 or 5.
