  Course entry requirements:
  Applicants must:
  a) Have appropriate preparatory academic training as evidenced by at least one of the following:
  -Be a holder of a Master's Degree of Egerton University
  -Be a holder of a Master's Degree or an equivalent academic qualification of any other recognized institution.
  -Be a candidate enrolled for a Master's Degree in Egerton University for at least one year who has to the satisfaction of the Senate shown exceptional progress in the Research Work to merit upgrading.
  -Be a holder of a Bachelor's Degree whom the Senate has specially exempted from the Master's programme.
  
  b) Fulfill specific requirements as maybe stipulated by respective Department, Faculty/School/Institute/Campus with regard to the field of study
•  University of Nairobi, Nairobi  
  Admission Requirements:
  1. Holders of a Master’s degree in Horticulture, Agronomy Crop Protection, Plant Pathology, Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, and related plant sciences from the University of Nairobi or any other institution recognized by Senate
  2. The applicant must be able to produce evidence of adequate academic background in the discipline and capacity to carry out original research by submitting a research concept note on the proposed topic of study.
  3. The concept note shall include a title, name of the candidate, introduction, and brief statement of the problem, research objectives, and research hypothesis, brief literature review, summary of proposed methodology, expected outputs, work plan, budget and key references.
•  Kenyatta University , Nairobi  
  Course entry requirements:
  -Holders of a Masters Degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Protection or any other related areas from all institutions recognized by Kenyatta University Senate. Candidate must include a brief outline of the proposed research project.

  Applicants should have a minimum of MSc. degree in any of the following disciplines: Horticulture, Ornamental and Landscaping Sciences, Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Soil Science or other related sciences from institutions recognized by JKUAT Senate.
