  Minimum entry requirements:
  1. General Minimum Entry Requirements
  A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission into a first-degree programme of the MUCE if he/she has one of the following qualifications:
  (a) Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E.) or equivalent, with passes in FIVE approved subjects THREE of which must be at credit level, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (A.C.S.E.E.) or equivalent.
  AND
  (b) (i) For all Applicants except graduates of 2014 and 2015:
  Two Principal Level Passes in appropriate subjects in the A.C.S.E.E. or equivalent with total points from three subjects not below 5 for Arts programmes and 4 for Science-based programmes based on the following grade to point conversion scale:
  A = 5; B = 4; C = 3; D = 2; E = 1; S = 0.5 and F = 0 point
  The minimum Principal in this case is an 'E' grade.
  (ii) For graduates of 2014 and 2015:
  Two Principal Level Passes in appropriate subjects in the A.C.S.E.E. or equivalent with total points from three subjects not below 5 (for Arts programmes) and 4 (for Science-based programmes) based on the following grade to point conversion scale:
  A = 5; B+ = 4; B = 3; C = 2; D = 1; E = 0.5 and F = 0 point.
  The Minimum Principal in this case is a 'C' grade
  [Note: Principal Level Passes in Divinity/Islamic Knowledge are not counted]
  OR
  (c) An appropriate equivalent Diploma with a GPA not less than 3.0 for Ordinary Diplomas or B average for Teacher Education and Health Related diplomas or Distinction for unclassified awards or C grade for Full Technician Certificates or Upper Second Class for non-NTA diplomas obtained from a college which is fully registered by NACTE and approved by the UDSM Senate.

  (i) Direct Entry Scheme (Form VI)
  To be eligible for direct admission to a degree programme applicants must have obtained: –
  -At least three (3) credit level passes in approved subjects in the Certificate of Secondary Education (“O” level);
  
  AND
  -At least two (2) passes in approved subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education level (“A” level) with total of 4.0 or more points. Where:
  
  Completed “A” level studies before 2014: A=5 points, B=4 points, C=3 points, D=2 points, E=1 point and S=0.5 point
  
  Completed “A” level studies in 2014 and 2015: A=5 points, B+=4 points, B=3 points, C=2 points, D=1 point and E=0 point

  (ii) Equivalent Entry Requirements
  To be eligible for equivalent admission to a degree programme applicants must have obtained:
  
  At least four (4) passes in approved subjects in the Certificate of Secondary Education (“O” level);
  
  AND
  
  A diploma of 3.0 GPA in the field relevant to the programme being applied for from a recognized institution of learning.

  Course entry requirements
  -Certificate of Secondary Education (C.S.E.E) or equivalent with passes in FIVE approved subjects, obtained prior to the sitting of the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.E) or equivalent.
  -At least two Principal level passes and a total of 4.5 or more points (where A= 5, B= 4, C= 3, D=2, E=1 and S= 0.5) in approved subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (A.C.S.E.E).
  -Equivalent qualifications such as ordinary or advanced diploma (Diploma with a GPA of 3.0 and above) or degrees or Mature Age/Pre-entry courses considered to be appropriate for the programme to be pursued.
  
  The Minimum Entrance Requirements listed above must include:
  -At least “O” Level credit passes one of which must be English Language;
  -At least two principal “A” passes (D and above) or an equivalent and must have a GPA of not less than 4.5.
  
  Equivalent Qualifications:
  -Recognised Diploma with at least grade “B” average and where applicable, a pass in an University Entrance Examination; OR
  -Mature Age Entrance Examination from recognized local universities OR Pre-entry courses

  - A candidate is required to have a Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in four approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the ACSEE.
  - A candidate for a bachelor degree of the University must have an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with at least two passes or their equivalent. The applicant must have attained a total score of at least 4.0 points for the degree in Arts or Science with Education; for Bachelor of Science in Nursing an applicant must have at least three principal passes (Chemistry C, Biology D and Physics/Mathematics/Nutrition E) or their equivalent with a total score of at least 6 points and Bachelor of Pharmacy an applicant must have at least three principal passes (Chemistry C, Biology C and Physics D) or their equivalent with a total score of at least 8 points. (Where A= 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2 and E = 1). A principal pass is D or above.
  
  - Holders of diplomas from recognised and accredited institutions should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA for non-health programmes and 3.5 GPA for health allied programmes to qualify for equivalent entry.
