  Minimum entry requirements:
  1. General Minimum Entry Requirements
  A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission into a first-degree programme of the MUCE if he/she has one of the following qualifications:
  (a) Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E.) or equivalent, with passes in FIVE approved subjects THREE of which must be at credit level, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations (A.C.S.E.E.) or equivalent.
  AND
  (b) (i) For all Applicants except graduates of 2014 and 2015:
  Two Principal Level Passes in appropriate subjects in the A.C.S.E.E. or equivalent with total points from three subjects not below 5 for Arts programmes and 4 for Science-based programmes based on the following grade to point conversion scale:
  A = 5; B = 4; C = 3; D = 2; E = 1; S = 0.5 and F = 0 point
  The minimum Principal in this case is an 'E' grade.
  (ii) For graduates of 2014 and 2015:
  Two Principal Level Passes in appropriate subjects in the A.C.S.E.E. or equivalent with total points from three subjects not below 5 (for Arts programmes) and 4 (for Science-based programmes) based on the following grade to point conversion scale:
  A = 5; B+ = 4; B = 3; C = 2; D = 1; E = 0.5 and F = 0 point.
  The Minimum Principal in this case is a 'C' grade
  [Note: Principal Level Passes in Divinity/Islamic Knowledge are not counted]
  OR
  (c) An appropriate equivalent Diploma with a GPA not less than 3.0 for Ordinary Diplomas or B average for Teacher Education and Health Related diplomas or Distinction for unclassified awards or C grade for Full Technician Certificates or Upper Second Class for non-NTA diplomas obtained from a college which is fully registered by NACTE and approved by the UDSM Senate.

  Minimum entry requirements:
  1. Applicants who completed A-Level studies before 2014
  - Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from Two Science Subjects defining the admission into the respective programme (where A = 5; B = 4; C= 3; D = 2; E = 1, S = 0.5; F = 0).
  
  2. Applicants who completed A-Level studies from 2014 onward
  - Two principal passes (Two Cs) with a total of 4.0 points from Two Science Subjects defining the admission into the respective programme (where A = 5; B+ = 4; B = 3; C= 2; D = 1; E = 1, S = 0.5; F = 0).
  
  3. Applicants with Recognition of Prior Learning qualification
  - B+ Grade: where A =75-100, B+ = 65-74, B=50-64, C =40, 49, D = 35-39, F = 0-38.
  
  4. Applicants with OUT’s Certificate in Foundation Programme
  - Overall average of at least 50% (B grade) from the 6 courses with passes in at least 2 core subjects.
  
  5. Applicants with Diploma qualification the minimum entry qualification is Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E.) or East African Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) or equivalent, with at least 4 passes (D’s and above) or NVA level III with less than 4 passes at CSEE.
  AND
  
  6. A Diploma or FTC with the following specific requirements:
  (i) Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) with at least GPA of 3.0;OR
  (ii) Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with at least GPA of 3.0 (where A = 5, B = 4,C = 3 and D = 2 points);OR
  (iii) Diploma in Teacher Education with an average of ‘C’ grade;OR
  (iv) Health related awards such as Clinical Medicine and others with average of ‘B’ grade;OR
  (v) Credit class diploma for classified diplomas and certificates in terms of ‘distinctions, credit or pass’ OR
  (vi) Lower Second Class diploma for classified non-NTA diplomas

  Course Entry Requirements:
  - A candidate is required to have a Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in four approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the ACSEE.
  - A candidate for a bachelor degree of the University must have an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with at least two passes or their equivalent. The applicant must have attained a total score of at least 4.0 points for the degree in Arts or Science with Education; for Bachelor of Science in Nursing an applicant must have at least three principal passes (Chemistry C, Biology D and Physics/Mathematics/Nutrition E) or their equivalent with a total score of at least 6 points and Bachelor of Pharmacy an applicant must have at least three principal passes (Chemistry C, Biology C and Physics D) or their equivalent with a total score of at least 8 points. (Where A= 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2 and E = 1). A principal pass is D or above.
  
  - Holders of diplomas from recognised and accredited institutions should have a minimum of 3.0 GPA for non-health programmes and 3.5 GPA for health allied programmes to qualify for equivalent entry.
