Course entry requirements
(i) A Master’s Degree in Business [Level 7, Malaysian Qualification Framework (MQF)] or in other related discipline and recognized by the University Senate; OR
(ii) A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate, subject to having relevant working experience and rigorous internal assessment; OR
(iii) A Master’s degree (Level 7, MQF) in non-related fields as accepted by the HEP Senate and without relevant working experience, subject to passing prerequisite courses; OR
(iv) Other qualifications equivalent to a master’s degree recognised by the Malaysian Government; OR
(v) Candidates who have excellent Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) graduates for direct admission to Doctoral Degree by Research (Level 8, MQF) programme with the following conditions:
(vi) Candidates have first class Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification; OR
(vii) Candidates have obtained CGPA of at least 3.67 or equivalent from either an academic or Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme; AND
(viii) Evaluated through rigorous internal assessment by UNITAR; AND
Experience can be cumulative experience even before acquiring required qualification for a particular level of study. However, the experience must be relevant to the level of study as well as the content.
AND
A proposal of about 500 words in English must be submitted together with all the relevant documents required for admission to the University on the registration day.

1.Rigorous assessment to evaluate the suitability of an applicant for a programme through statement of purpose, interview and other methods may cover the following criteria:
-Demonstration of strong business experience, and that you have held significant managerial responsibilities.
-Evidence of any achievements in your professional life, for example, consistently performing at a high level, consistent career progression and any impact that you have had on your organisation.
-Professional skills that you have developed, for example, teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, negotiating and analytical skills.

3.The pre-requisite courses must equip the students with necessary business knowledge (managing people, managing financial resources, understanding customers, understanding environments and strategic planning) of one level lower than the programme level.

Language Requirements
International Students:
-Minimum score of 600 for TOEFL; OR
-Minimum score of 6.5 for IELTS OR its equivalent

Local Students:
-Credit in SPM English; OR
-Pass an internal assessment (oral examination) set by the university, with a minimum grade of C. The panel of the assessment shall comprise of two senior members of the faculty / school and a representative from the English Language Department from Faculty of Education & Humanities (FEH) or other relevant department. The panel is appointed by the Dean / Director of the respective faculty / school / centers.

Local and International Students:
-The Masters degree was conducted using English as medium of instruction. Proof to be obtained from the institution concerned.

Intake Information:
Intake for the course work mode and mixed mode programmes are open twice a year, which is every October until November (for the next year February intake) and every April until May (for the September intake). Application for research mode programmes can be made any time throughout the year.

Mode of Study: Research Only (Thesis)

Registration Status: Full Time & Part Time

Entry Requirements:
A person who wishes to apply for admission to the Doctorate programme shall possess the following qualification:
1. Masters Degree from the University or any higher learning institution recognised by the Senate; or
2. Other qualifications equivalent to a Masters Degree or having other qualifications with experience recognised by the Senate; or
3. A candidate who is currently attending a full time Masters programme under paragraph 6(1) (a) in the University and is certified by the Faculty Graduate Studies Committee/Centre for Graduate Management to convert his status to a Doctorate programme with the approval of Dean of the Faculty/Director of the Institute; or
4. Bachelor’s Degree with excellent results from the University or any higher learning institution recognised by the Senate; or
5. Other qualifications recognised by the Senate obtained through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) or through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL); and
6. Fulfills other requirements prescribed by the programme (where applicable).

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS
An international candidate is required to fulfill the English Language proficiency
requirements as follows:
-Obtained TOEFL (550), IELTS (6) or MUET (4) results which fulfil the score or minimum band requirements prescribed by the programme; or
For certain programmes, a candidate is required to sit for an English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if he/she fails to achieve the level specified by the programme, the candidate is required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM) in a maximum period of two (2) semesters before he is allowed to register for the study programme. The candidate shall register as a Non-Graduating Student.
-The Faculty/Institute may grant exemption to the requirements specified in sub-regulation (1) for the international candidate who:
will be writing his/her thesis/dissertation in the Malay/ Arabic languages;
has the academic qualifications obtained from any local universities recognised by the Senate; or
is originally from a country where English is the official language or he/she has the academic qualifications obtained from any higher learning institution which uses English as the medium of instruction.
- The candidate may be exempted from the requirements stated in sub-regulation (2), but the candidate shall sit for the English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if he/she fails to obtain the level specified by the programme, the candidate is required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM).

-Candidates must hold a Master Degree* in the relevant field OR equivalent from a recognized university.
-Candidates to enrol in Engineering/ Engineering Technology and Computing programmes but having qualification from different disciplines must undergo pre-requisite courses.
*Master degree must be equivalent to Malaysian Qualifications Framework, Level 7 Master’s Degree.
